“Your experiences will mold yourself
and help you become a much better person”, I really believe in this quote. The experiences I
have encountered helped me to find myself more and helped me to become a much
better person than I was before. This is God’s purpose, for us to live not only
to be His instrument, but also to live life to the utmost and learn from our
experiences we’ll face. These experiences are up to you whether you’ll take it
as a burden or think of it as a challenge, in order for you to become a better
person.
In my 16 years of existence, I have
already learned a lot from my experiences. But I would not say that these are
already enough, because I know, that for every tomorrow, new obstacles, life
lessons and experiences are waiting for me to face. One experience that I can’t
really forget that helped me define myself as a person happened back when I was
in elementary, still. I was just a new student in this particular school when I
was in 3rd Grade. I had no friends, no one to talk to, and still
adjusting myself to the new environment I was brought up to. I really was a
wallflower back then. I won’t talk to anyone unless they’d be asking me
questions. But as days passed by, I learned not to be anti-social anymore. I
tried my best to gain friends, which happened swiftly and most of all, I pushed
my own limits to be on top. I worked hard, studied and focused on my goal,
prayed to God to guide me always and He did answer my prayers. At the end of
the school year, my parents were very proud of me when I achieved 2nd
Honors that time. Not only that, I also received Conduct awardee, Best in
Christian Living and Best in English as well. That was, I think the first time
I really felt proud of myself and with that experience, it served as my
inspiration for me to do my best at any time possible. Now, I’m currently a
scholar under the DOST program and I’m very proud to say that I have maintained
my scholarship until the end of my high school. Another experience that had a
great impact on me in becoming a better me is when I was in my Junior High. Our
batch had a contest on Speech Choir in celebration of the English Month. Since
we were the so called “model section”,
we were encouraged to join this specific competition. At first, we had no care
at all on when to practice, what to prepare and most especially on memorizing
the piece given. Not until the time where we started practicing at one of our
classmate’s church. You know, the moment we entered there, we already felt
God’s presence and it was the first time that we had a peaceful meeting and
started taking our practices seriously. We always pray before and after our
practices, we even had cell groups whenever there’s still time available, of
course we make time because it is He. Then the moment of the contest had
arrived, there were a lot of contestants who participated and the juniors,
together with the seniors were already combined to be competitors for Speech
Choir. We were not expecting for us to win, since the 4th years were
also competing, we assumed that they’ll hold the title. But we were very
shocked, surprised, full of joy and almost all emotions possible! We won! We’re
entitled as champions. We cried, hugged together, prayed and shook hands with
our competitors. The best thing about that is we also represented our school
and competed in the Regional contest for Speech Choir held at Emilio Aguinaldo
College, where in 20 different high schools in NCR were to beat. Surprisingly,
we achieved in being 2nd place. It was very fulfilling knowing that
we did our best, worked together as a team and had never forgotten to call Him
for guidance, strength, help and camaraderie with each and every one of us.
So,
what I can suggest to everybody is to live everyday with faith. God is always
with us, we must make him feel that we know that He is there. Not only to the
times that we are in need, talk to Him as if He is just a friend. And of
course, take your experiences as challenges which will make you stronger in
facing the future. They say that “you are
what you think”. Live a life full of positive vibes and success will come
your way. Experience is the teacher of
all things. These experiences will truly help oneself. There’s no such thing as
a waste of time if you’ll use your experiences wisely. You may not be able to go
back on what you have done, but you can always use your failures as a
motivation and a guide in facing the future. Believe and you will attain
anything you want to be. You will never know unless you try.
THIS ESSAY I MADE WAS FROM THE ACET APPLICATION FORM, SINCE I STAYED UP LATE JUST TO FINISH THIS, I WANT TO SHARE IT WITH EVERYBODY. :)
